The Pros and Cons of this SCARPA Hiking Boot.

Pros:

  • plenty of comfort features that should appeal to plenty of wearers
  • security with the weatherproofing, laces and leather
  • a good construction with a strong sole and attention to detail

Cons:

  • some talk about a long breaking-in period
  • the boots might be a bit much for the average hiker

These SCARPA Kinesis Pro GTX Hiking Boots do appear to offer strength and comfort in the right circumstances.

The majority of comments for this walking boot are pretty positive. There are plenty of users that like the comfort offered via the sole and shape of the boot. There is a high density foam in the midsole and cushioning around the collar and tongue. The latter is great for those that make the most of the secure fastening on the micro-pulley lacing

Then there are those that talk about the construction of the SCARPA walking boots. This is a pretty tough model that should hold up pretty well on long walks over rougher terrain.

The ebony leather boot should be tough enough in the worst situations. The addition of the waterproof gore-tex lining helps with bad weather conditions. Then there is the strong outsole with the vibram traction.

The problem with these SCARPA Kinesis Boots is that this comfort and appeal isn’t as instant as some would like.

The main problem with these shoes seems to be the fact that it takes a little time to break them in properly. For some, this means little more than some stiff soles and sore spots across different parts of the foot. This eases with time.

However, there are other people that feel that this is far too stiff and heavy for their needs. Some dislike the use of memory foam because it makes the shoe heat up too fast. Elsewhere there are comments about the length of the laces, arch support and fit, but many of these issues can be fixed with ease.

Is this SCARPA Pro GTX Hiking Boot still recommendable with all of this in mind?

There are some people that refer to this shoe as more of a mountaineering boot than a walking boot. This has pros and cons depending on the needs of the wearer. Some people will appreciate this analogy. The boots are clearly strong and able to take a little more punishment than other walking boots.

Many would also agree that they do so without compromising too much on comfort. However, there are those issues with the weight, stiffness and breaking in period. This big boot won’t be to everyone’s liking. Still, there is no doubt that these SCARPA walking boots have potential for the right user.
