Salomon X Radiant GTX Hiking Shoes

Are The Stylish Salomon X Radiant Mid GT Hiking Shoes Also Practical?

Salomon Men's X Radiant Mid GTX Hiking and Multisport Shoes Waterproof, Grey (Phantom/Magnet/Monument), 9.5 UK (44 EU)Some hiking boots can look quite heavy and bulky but the Salomon X Radiant GTX Hiking Shoes take a different approach.

Here we have a shoe that looks a lot more like an adapted sneaker than a hiking boot.

There is a nice shape and a sense of style that isn’t always provided with this sort of product.

But what does this mean for the performance and comfort? Is this less able to handle a tough trek?

The Pros and Cons of this Salomon Men’s X Radiant Mid GTX Hiking Shoes.

Pros:

  •  The adaptive fit of the uppers around the foot
  •  The lightweight coupled with the protective features
  •  The grip and weatherproofing for tougher treks.

Cons:

  •  The shoes tend to run small
  •  Some have had some problems with the laces.

The Salomon Men’s X Radiant Mid GTX Hiking Shoes may look a little different, but it still has many of the basic features that hikers are after.

One of the standout features with this shoe is the fit. There is Sensfit technology that is meant to hug the foot and provide support that is more tailored to the shape of the wearer. This should mean a comfortable shoe with that sporty edge.

Other comfort features here include the ortholite insole, the support around the ankle and the light weight of 420g. There are some great reviews from users that have been able to get the best out of this Salomon walking boots on their treks.

There are also plenty of details to the design that should allow users to get out on those mountain trails and enjoy a long walk. There is a contagrip outsole that is built for the best possible grip in all conditions.

The uppers on the lightweight boot have reinforced areas around the toes and heel to add protection in case of stubbed toes and sharp rocks.

There is also a gore-tex membrane inside the boot for breathability and protection against the rain. Many reviewers are yet to test the weatherproofing its full potential, but still seem to be confident enough in the product.

The downsides with this Salomon GTX Walking Boot are minimal and avoidable in most cases.

The majority of reviews are favourable as users seem to appreciate the blend of style, comfort and protection. However, there are a few buyers that note that the shoes run small.

Therefore, it may be worth buying a half size up, especially if you plan of wearing thicker socks during the trek. Others have replaced the laces because they come undone a little too easily. Still, this isn’t a major problem or big expense.

Does this lack of criticism mean that this Salomon X Radiant Hiking Shoe is highly recommendable?

Overall, there is little to say against these boots. Some brands that try and be stylish and sporty can forget about some of the fundamentals of a hiking boot. That doesn’t seem to be the case here.

The final product is lightweight, comfortable and seems to offer enough protection for the hike. As long as you are careful in choosing the right size, there should be few issues with the Salomon hiking shoes.
