Salomon Quest Prime GTX Hiking Boots

Are Salomon Quest Prime GTX Hiking Boots Suitable For Casual Hikers?

Salomon QUEST PRIME GTX Men's Hiking BootsThe Salomon Quest Prime GTX Hiking Boots look like your typical hiking boot for the more casual user.

There is a good lace-up design in a high-rise form with thick, supportive uppers and what looks like a strong sole underneath.

There is a choice of classic all-black design or something a little more interesting. Both designs come with promiser of great weather protection and comfort for long-term use. Is this what buyers experience or are there flaws to deal with?

The Pros and Cons of this Salomon Men’s Quest Prime GTX High Rise Hiking Boots.

Pros:

  •  The lightweight feel of the boot
  •  The comfort of the insole
  •  The weatherproofing on offer

Cons:

  •  Not all wearers are happy with the grip
  •  The shoelaces need to be replaced

These lightweight Salomon Quest Prime GTX Hiking Boots can help many wearers get to their destination in comfort.

Comfort is an important part of this walking boot. The high-rise design and strong uppers give the sense that this could be a heavy boot over long periods. Instead, it is lightweight and, at 570g, is said to be one of the lightest of its type. This should lower any risk of fatigue.

There is also plenty of comfort from the insole and midsole of this Salomon hiking boot. The midsole has energy cell padding to help protect feet and there is an ortholite insole for added support in all the right places.

Then there is the weatherproofing of this model. The uppers have waterproof gore-tex as a protective barrier against the rain and wet conditions.

The secure closure all the way up to the top of the high-rise shape should also help to keep out the wind and rain. At the same time, it is breathable so feet don’t get too hot over long journeys.  As a result, there are many walkers that find that they can cover enough miles without too many problems.

Sadly, there are some that are less impressed with the outsole on the Salomon Men’s Quest Prime Walking Boots.

One feature here that lets this boot down is the grip on the outsole. There is a Contragrip design and while some find that this is enough for their needs, others feel that it doesn’t offer the same grip as a Vibram sole.

Therefore, it might not be the best choice for slippery conditions. There is also a warning to replace the laces with something that is more secure as one wearer kept having to retie theirs during a hike. But, this shouldn’t be too costly an inconvenience.

Does this all mean that this Salomon Quest High-Rise Hiking Boot is still easily recommended to the target market?

There are some small drawbacks to this boot but nothing that is that off-putting for the casual hiker. Some keen adventurers might not like the grip but weekend hikers can appreciate the comfort, support and weatherproofing in these lightweight boots.

Therefore, these Salomon walking boots are definitely still recommendable to those that need a classic boot that covers all the bases.
