The Pros and Cons of this Mountain Warehouse Latitude Mens Vibram Waterproof Boot.
Pros:
- The waterproofing of the uppers with the additional membrane
- A functional Vibram sole for wet conditions
- A simple brown lace-up design for wider appeal
Cons:
- There are comments about the breaking-in process
- Rare comments about breakages
There isn’t much to the specification of these Mountain Warehouse Latitude Vibram Waterproof Boots – but that isn’t a bad thing.
The selling point of these Mountain Warehouse walking boots is the performance in bad weather. There is a clear intention to make these protective in the rain and slippery conditions with the treatment of the leather uppers and the use of the Vibram sole.
There are positive comments about both. The synthetic leather material seems strong and resistant and the addition of the IsoDry waterproof and breathable membrane adds to the protection in wet conditions.
Additional features of note here are the padding around the ankle for extra comfort, the EVA footbed, the lace-up closure right to the top of the boot, and the no-nonsense design.
There is a uniform brown around across the shoe, except for some small branding in metal or yellow.
Here, this shows that this is a shoe all about performance rather than style. The term “padding where needed” in the specification is interesting as it shows a stripped-back approach and focus on the most essential features. For some, this might not pay off.
A small minority of wearers aren’t convinced by these Mountain Warehouse Latitude Walking Boots.
Unfortunately, there are some mixed comments about the comfort offered by these shoes. While there are lots of 5-star reviews talking about comfort on long walks and the features inside the shoe, others are less convinced.
It seems that it may take some time to break these in because of the stiffness of the material.
There are also mixed comments about the durability of the shoe, with one reviewer noticing damage a few months in and others wearing theirs for years. Perhaps it all depends on how the users treat the shoe over that time.
How do these conflicting opinions affect the final verdict on these Mountain Warehouse Vibram Hiking Boots?
With these comments in mind, there are some warnings that this might not turn out to be the perfect shoe. The worst-case situation could be a shoe showing damage before you have fully broken it in. But, the frequency of the comments suggests that this is unlikely.
With so many other happy wearers talking about the quality of the shoe and the performance in bad weather, it is still easy to recommend the Mountain Warehouse walking boots to many keen hikers.

Margot Waring says
I bought a pair of Mountain Warehouse Latitude Vibram Waterproof Boots online from Australia in December 2020 because they looked similar in the ads to the Scarpa Terra GTX hiking boots that I’ve had for years & find so comfortable. The Latitude boots were originally very stiff in the ankle area but have become pretty comfortable with wear.
They seem tough construction, waterproof so far & I’m sure they will give years of service but only for gardening. It took very little time on the rough rocky ground in parts of my garden for the toes of both Latitude boots to become damaged. It’s only the shiny dark brown surface (almost like a thin synthetic skin in appearance) but it is peeling back where it’ been damaged to reveal an under layer that is not shiny and is a much lighter shade of brown.
Unlike the shiny surface, I think this under layer could absorb some wax boot polish but would never look the same as the shiny part. The Latitude boots were certainly much cheaper at AUD$134.99 down from a full price currently stated to be AUD$287.99. I’d be furious if I’d paid the full price given how irretrievably shabby the toes look. Scarpa Terra GTX boots are on sale at present for AUD$259.95 with free delivery, down from the full price AUD$349.99 currently charged by that & other sites.
Even though their sale price is twice the sale price I paid 6 months ago for the Latitude boots, if they perform as well as the years old Skarpa Terras I still wear outside my property, they are worth paying double the sale price. Indeed,
I was so keen to have a new pair of Skarpa Terras for the future that I would have been prepared to pay the full price AUD$349.99 for the quality. My old Scarpa Terras were instantly comfortable, are waterproof & still look good. Although the toes get scuffed, this is soon fixed by a little normal boot polish.
My verdict on Mountain Warehouse is, if they are on sale for less than half full price & you just need something to wear while you muck about the yard, they are fine but if you want boots that look decent for years and are instantly comfortable, pay the higher price for Scarpa Terra GTX.
